The Right Way

Standardized testing is not okay.

I wasted my life, 18 years.

Who determines who we are today?

These tests are supposed to determine my way,

But instead there is only a trail of tears.

Standardized testing is not okay.

It’s the men that wear a bad toupee,

And laugh at us while drinking beers.

Who determine who we are today?

So applause to the teachers who eat away

At our souls, repeatedly filling our ears.

Standardized testing is not okay.

So let’s say that I rise up and disobey,

Choose another road and switch gears.

Who determines who we are today?

Who says you can’t beat the system and their foul play?

It doesn’t lay out anything perfectly clear.

Standardized testing is not okay.

Who determines who we are today?
